Local Laugh Offs wrapping up

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

The four remaining Yuk Yuk’s Local Laugh Off finals will take place this weekend and results will be posted as soon as names are confirmed.

In Calgary, they’ll be hosted at Yuk Yuk’s brand-new location at The Elbow River Casino. The venue holds 250 audience members (who are usually holding their sides laughing.)

Former oil patch entrepreneurs Hal Metcalfe and Jim Weston have brought a “Vegas-style comedy experience” to Calgary. Yuk Yuk’s founder Mark Breslin says “From the heyday of Vegas to modern show-palaces, comedy and casinos work well together.” Calgary Yuk Yuk’s at the Elbow River Casino is a great success with new acts every week playing to packed houses.

Soon, Calgary will be sending one of its own to Toronto to compete in the 2009 Laugh Off.

Stay tuned for details about the forthcoming opening of Yuk Yuk’s new Edmonton club and for more Laugh Off updates.
